The boundary

Do I need a
commercial license?

The license text controls. This is the short, plain-language route to the answer; if your situation is close to the line, ask and we will help you place it.

Talk to us if Blacksite is used…

  • By or for a for-profit company
  • In paid employment or contracting work
  • On a commercial product or service
  • For client work or internal business operations
  • In CI, background automation, or unattended business workflows
  • For work with an expected commercial application

Generally free for…

  • Personal study and experimentation without an expected commercial application
  • Hobby projects
  • Qualifying charitable and educational organizations
  • Public research, safety, health, and environmental organizations
  • Government institutions

Commercial use can require a license even when Blacksite is only an internal tool and is not included in the product you ship. Company size and current revenue do not change that boundary.

Want to evaluate it first?

Get in touch. We can arrange a nonproduction commercial evaluation before you commit to a paid license, and make the scope and timing clear in writing.

Model costs are separate

Blacksite is bring-your-own-key. Your chosen model provider bills you directly for its API use; Blacksite does not proxy those requests.

No one-size-fits-all metric

People, concurrent automation, a site-wide arrangement, or another practical measure can all be discussed. The written order form is where the agreed scope belongs.

want to use it.

A short note is enough: who would use Blacksite, whether automation is involved, and any unusual security, deployment, or procurement needs. We can work out the rest together.
